Fate Tarot

A three-card spread is the smallest reading that still has a shape. One card on its own describes a mood; three cards describe a movement — where something came from, what is holding it now, and which way it opens. That is why past-present-future remains the default spread after a century of more elaborate alternatives: it is the fewest cards that can carry a story.

Every card on this site is read three times, once for each position, and the readings are genuinely different rather than the same paragraph re-tensed. The Tower in the past position is an inheritance you are still building on; in the future position it is a mode of ending you cannot negotiate with. Same card, different question.

The reading here is free and needs no account. Add your birth date afterwards and each card picks up two extra lines — one from your Saju day pillar, one from your Western chart — because a card does not mean the same thing to everyone who draws it.

Read the positions before you read the cards. People new to tarot tend to look up three separate meanings and stack them, which produces three unrelated statements. The spread works the other way round: the position asks a question, and the card answers that specific question.

Reversals are not simply the opposite of upright. A reversed card usually points at the same territory approached from a different angle — something blocked, delayed, internalised, or already being released. Treating reversed as "the bad version" flattens half the deck, so the reversed readings on this site are written as independent interpretations rather than negations.

Major Arcana cards describe conditions larger than your daily choices; the four suits describe the material you actually handle — drive (Wands), feeling (Cups), thought (Swords), and ground (Pentacles). A spread heavy in Majors reads differently from one made entirely of small cards, and that difference is often the most useful thing in the reading.
