What is useful here is naming the value that won rather than the option that won. People remember the outcome and forget the criterion, which is why the same person keeps making the same choice and calling it coincidence. The order you set in the past is still running underneath your reasoning, and you are allowed to read what it says.

The Lovers reversed behind you marks a fork you handled by staying near both branches. Perhaps you kept a connection warm while building a life that had no room for it, or held a role you had already outgrown because leaving required saying out loud something you had known privately for a year.

There is a second shape, which is a union entered on terms nobody examined at the time. Agreement felt like alignment, and the two are not the same thing at all. The mismatch was present from the start, small enough to overlook in the first months and easy to explain away in the ones after, and it has been compounding quietly in the way unspoken differences always compound.
